Pre-season week 2 and Triathlon

800g down this week and 1 triathlon up :)

I had a ball on my first triathlon in Nowra on Sunday. After 18 months of building up to it (took longer as I was knocked out with illness for 6 months last year). It was a sprint distance = 750m open water swim / 20km cycle / 5km run. I was slow, but did not stop and know where I can push a bit harder when I do my second Tri in 3.5 weeks in Husskisson. I can't wait and am addicted already!

I have also set my goals as per Mish's instructions for pre-season and included in that is to do the NSW Triathlon Australia Club Champs in Forster at the end of week 11. It is a 1km ocean swim / 30km cycle / 8km run. So I have my training cut out for me. Luckily my Tri club (Balance and UTS Triathlon Club) is putting together a 10 week training schedule specifically for the Club Champs. I am so excited! I love the training and the building up to a goal and then achieving that goal. It feels so good!

Pre-season week 1

OK, so only a 300g loss this week - but a loss is a loss so I am happy. It was mostly because I did not exercise enough - only twice this week... They were big sessions, but two is just not enough. But I did have a couple of bad food choice days and had pizza of all things on the weekend. At least it was only 2 slices and not more.
So, this week I plan on eating very clean and doing 5 sessions at least and that will be hard cause I have my triathlon on Sunday and need to taper and then recover. But I can do it!
I hope you are all doing well and are pumped with the opening of the pre-season tasks. Make sure you really spend time on them (especially the ones on your excuses and your goals) - they are VERY important and will make all the difference on whether you make it through to the end of the 12 weeks or not. Do exactly as Mish tells you and be true to yourself :)

week before pre-season weigh in

Ok, so back tracking a bit first..... Last week when I signed up for this round of 12wbt I weighed in at 76.2kgs. This morning I weighed in at 75.6kgs - a loss of 600g this week which I am happy with because I had an icecream and a toast (with butter and jam) hiccup on the weekend. I have been exercising 3-4 times a week between 300 and 700 calories. So I clearly have room for improvement and this is another one of the reasons I have signed up again.

On the forums Tricia has set a challenge for those returning members to make a goal weight for the start of the season. Mine is 73kgs (or less of course) and there are 4 weeks to get there - so a sensible goal for me.

On a more exciting note - I am doing my very first triathlon in Nowra on Sunday 22nd January. It feels like I have been training forever to get to the first real tri as I was very nearly there at this time last year when I got repeatedly sick for 6 months (1 flu, 1 lung infection, and 7 colds.....). But feeling good and really ready to do my Sprint (750m ocean swim, 20km cycle, 5km run). It will be hard, but I am only competing against myself and my triathlon club (Balance and UTS) will be supporting me all the way.

I have also started thinking about my exercise milestones for this 12wbt round for weeks 4, 8 and 12. None of my triathlon events fit this at all so I thought I would add hiking as my milestones/treats. The Wild Endurance 100km (50/50 relay) walk is on in the Blue Mountains on the perfect weekend (5th and 6th May) so I think that will be it - does anyone want to join me?

12WBT Round 1 2012 - here I come!

Yipee - I am all signed up for the next round and am rearing to go! My hope/aim/goal is to get to goal weight this round. And, if possible, get there by my 36th birthday on 24th April. I am committed and ready and know that my best chance is through this amazing program that has already got me past halfway in my first round. Lets hit it!

Final week 12 weigh in

Well, the end of the round is here and I am very proud of myself! I have weighed in this morning at 77.1kg which is a loss of 14.1kg since the start of this round and 14.9kgs since pre-season. Only 10-12 kgs to get to my goal weight (I can't decide if goal should be 65 or 67 kgs.....).
I have done very well and learned an awful lot about myself. But, there was still plenty of room for improvement - especially in the exercise corner. So, for Round 1 2012 I am going to really focus on my exercise.
I'm looking forward to the finale next week and am off to go shopping today for a dress or some underwear if I decide to wear my fav outfit from 10 years ago that I now fit back into.
Yipppeee!!!!

Week 11 weigh in

Wee Hee - I'm living in the 70's!!!!!

Weighed in at 78.7kgs this morning :) a loss of 1.7kgs this week and getting close to my end of 12wbt goal of 77kgs. I will be close next week if not there. I will do my best to make it.

Then comes dong it without all the support until the next round in 2012. Pre-season starts in January and round start in February. So I have about 2 months over the festive season to stay on track. I have made new friends and there is an email group being set up, but I am still a bit worried. All the organic markets close over Christmas and New Year as well making it all a bit trickier to get good clean food. But I will be strong and keep going. I would love to be in the 60s for my birthday in April next year.

Week Ten Weigh In

I got through my red flag week with a plateau and so that was pretty good considering I did make some poor choices and did have a chocolate truffle per day (after no chocolate for 9 weeks - oh and none since I got back) and had some wine in the Barossa. But I did cycle the vineyards one day (one very hot day) and did a couple of runs. So all in all a good result considering.

But today at weigh in I am back on track with 80.4kg (a 1.8kg loss) and I am really looking forward to being back in the 70s next week :) bring it on! Getting close to reaching my target weight loss for this round by week 12. I would like to weigh in at 77kgs for the finale.

I have also committed myself to doing round one next year as there are a heap of spots I know I could have done better this round and I would like to get to my target weight of 67kgs next year. I especially would like to follow the exercise program more closely and get more toned. This round I have been doing 4-6 days of exercise a week (500 cals a day and 1000 on the weekend), but it has been mostly cardio (run/walk and cycle) so I need to do more toning exercises, especially for my tummy area.

So all in all I am doing well and I have plenty more goals to keep me busy.
